Kennedy to step down as Irish Times editor

Geraldine Kennedy is to step down as the editor of The Irish Times, it has emerged.

Geraldine Kennedy is to step down as the editor of The Irish Times, it has emerged.

She announced today that she will not seek an extension of her contract, which runs out in September.

A spokesman for the paper said the announcement was made now in order to give management enough time to find a suitable replacement.

She was appointed editor of The Irish Times in 2002.
