Man remanded in custody after being charged with mother's murder

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court in Co Mayo charged with murdering his mother.

Celyn Eadon from Derrynacrieve, Islandeady in Castlebar appeared before Judge Mary Devins at a sitting of Swinford District Court.

He is charged with the murder of 46-year-old Noreen Kelly at Islandeady on Wednesday, March 9.

The court heard he made no reply when charged.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court in Castlerea on March 18.

Legal aid was granted and his solicitor asked that he be given immediate psychiatric attention once he is brought to Castlerea.
