Taoiseach set to meet with Barroso

The Taoiseach will meet the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso this evening as he begins his campaign to re-negotiate the terms of the EU/IMF bailout.

Enda Kenny earlier appointed his junior ministerial team.

Mr Kenny said his message to Mr Barroso this evening will be clear: "I'm going to say to him is that the process in which we're in here was designed to sort out a problem," he said.

"In its (bailout package) structure and its current state, it is not going to sort out that problem.

"I intend to bring to him directly now as Taoiseach, on behalf on the country, what I believe are areas where some flexibility is going to be required."
