Carpetright to close seven Irish outlets

Retailer Carpetright has announced it is to close seven of its 25 stores in Ireland, putting 19 jobs at risk.

However, the British company says it cannot specify which branches are set to close until it completes a period of consultation with staff.

The firm said the decision was due to a 50% decline in sales over the past three years.
