Murder trial jury retires

The jury in the trial of a Dublin teenager accused of murdering his neighbour three years ago, has begun its deliberations.

Conor Duffy (aged 18) of St Mary's Road in East Wall denies the murder of 50-year-old Aidan O'Kane at a laneway off Bargy Road in 2008.

Mr Duffy's lawyers have argued he was only a child at the time of the shooting, and acted in self-defence, but the prosecution say the teenager made a "pre-meditated" decision to open fire.

The jury at the Central Criminal Court heard closing speeches in the case this morning, and began its deliberations at 3pm.
