Hauliers 'will bring country to standstill' over petrol prices

The owner of a haulage company in Donegal has said he will stage a major blockade across the entire country if the new government does not address the price of fuel.

The price of petrol has reached a record high, with the cost of a litre surpassing the €1.50c mark at many of the country's petrol stations.

That compares to this time last year when the cost of a litre of unleaded petrol was €1.27c.

John McLoughlin of JML Fuels recently organised a major rally from Donegal across the country before staging a protest in Dublin.

He also met with the Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny to outline his concerns and he has said that hauliers will bring the country to a standstill if the problem is not tackled.
