Smithfield suspect device a homemade shotgun

The suspicious device found this morning at Smithfield horse market was an improvised, homemade shotgun, gardaí have said.

The Gardaí called the Army Bomb Disposal Team following the discovery of the device at the market.

After examination, the device was made safe at the scene and handed over to gardaí for their investigations.

The army team arrived on scene at 12.20pm. The scene was declared safe at 12.45pm.
