Trocaire begins 2011 Lenten campaign

Trocaire kicks off its annual Lenten campaign today.

Irish people have collected €250m in the last four decades through Trocaire campaigns, which director Justin Kilcullen said was an "extraordinary tribute to the generosity of Irish people".

He said the money allowed Trocaire to operate in more than 27 countries around the world, helping poor people to break out of poverty "and to tackle oppression and injustice".
