One person hospitalised following M7 crash chaos

One person has been taken to hospital following a series of crashes on the motorway at Portlaoise.

Two trucks were involved in a collision on the M7 Dublin/Limerick road in dense fog this morning while around 20 cars were involved in up to 10 subsequent accidents.

One of the lorry drivers had to be cut from his vehicle and is now being treated at Portlaoise Hospital.

Around three others received medical attention at the scene.

The road remains closed between junctions 16 and 17 and gardaí are on point duty directing traffic as there are long delays.
