Independent candidate Ross is awaiting the result of the first count in Dublin South this afternoon, but the tallies indicate he has won nearly a quarter of the vote.

The Independent candidate is determined that his stint in the Dáil will be longer-lasting than that of George Lee, who also represented that constituency.
