Kenny plans for first days in office

Enda Kenny has today announced plans for his first 100 days in office, which he says he will implement if elected as Taoiseach by the people on Friday.

Twenty five emergency steps will be taken, including cutting PRSI and publishing legislation for political reform such as abolishing the Seanad.

All ambassadors and State agency staff overseas will be recalled to be briefed on strategies, while Ministers will be told to focus on the job, and not photo-ops in their constituencies.

Mr Kenny says he would also use his position as Vice President of the European People's Party to immediately begin working with other EU Governments on re-negotiating the bailout.

"Given the state of affairs that apply in Ireland now, given state of the challenges that we face, there is no time to waste, there is not an hour to be lost, and Ireland urgently needs to get back to work," he said.

"That’s why, if the people decide to elect Fine Gael to Government, we’re going to hit the ground running."
