Man to be charged with in connection with death of Athlone woman
A 63-year-old man is to appear in court in this evening charged with the murder of Marie Greene in Athlone, Co Westmeath.
Human remains discovered in bogland just outside Athlone this morning have been removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The remains are believed to be those of the 37-year-olds, although they still have not been formally identified.
A man arrested yesterday on suspicion of her murder has been charged this evening and is due before a special sitting of Athlone District Court at 5pm.
