A Louth man pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today to having explosives components on the MI motorway last year.

A Louth man pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today to having explosives components on the MI motorway last year.

Gerard Carroll (aged 20), of Ashling Park, Cox's Demesne, Dundalk, Co Louth admitted the unlawful possession of explosive substances, namely a "modified 24-volt battery-operated hand tool" at Junction 17 of the M1 motorway in Dundalk on July 9 last year.
