Two men with 50 previous convictions between them are being sentenced today for the manslaughter of a man in Ashbourne, Co Meath four years ago.

Derek 'Del Boy' Hutch of Chapel Farm Avenue in Lusk and Alan Donohue of Ashdale Crescent, Ashbourne admitted killing Barry Maguire at the Miltown Estate in December 2007.

The Central Criminal Court has heard how Hutch, who is a nephew of notorious criminal 'The Monk', and Donohue stabbed the 23-year-old victim during a melee in the early hours of the morning.

A jury had been sworn in to try the two men for murder, but they changed their pleas on the opening day of the trial.
