Paramedics 'intimidated or assaulted on a daily basis'
Paramedics have today warned that intimidation and assault is now happening to them on a daily basis.
A 33 year-old man will be sentenced next week for attacking a Paramedic in Tallaght in 2009.
James Doyle of Glenshane Grove, in Tallaght pleaded guilty to the assault, where he threatened an Ambulance crew with a wheel brace and a hammer.
Derek O'Rourke said there is no support for Paramedics who come under attack.
"If you look at security guards at various hospitals around the country, they are equipped with protective vests, to protect themselves from the people we bring in and are isolated with in the back of ambulances," he said.
"It’s not acceptable anymore."
