Galway-Limerick train services disrupted following crash

Irish Rail has confirmed it will be tomorrow before full service is restored on the Galway to Limerick train route.

It follows a collision between a car and a train outside Galway this afternoon.

The incident happened around 12.30pm at the Murrough level crossing behind Galway Crystal off the Dublin road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but neither the two occupants of the car nor the train passengers were hurt.

Train services on the Galway to Dublin route are back to schedule but services on the Galway/Limerick route are still disrupted with some bus transfers this evening between Athenry and Limerick.
