FG warn of 8,000 job losses in HSE reform

Fine Gael says 8,000 job losses in the Health Service would be needed to reform the system.

The party has unveiled plans to abolish the Health Service Executive and instead copy the Dutch model of Universal Health Insurance.

While it will take up to ten years to establish the plan, the party said not an extra cent will be spent until "the black hole of waste is found and corrected".

Health spokesman and Fine Gael deputy leader, James Reilly said the job losses would be phased in over a number of years.
