Gardaí in Donegal are hunting for a gang of men who broke into a house, threatened a family and stole a sum of cash this morning.

Gardaí in Donegal are hunting for a gang of men who broke into a house, threatened a family and stole a sum of cash this morning.

The break-in happened at Kinnego near Buncrana at around 9am.

Three men, believed to be armed with guns, entered the house and threatened a mother and her children.

The men escaped with the cash in the family car, a dark blue Audi A6 registration number 09 DL 2621.

No one was injured.

The car drove towards Bridgend and was found abandoned in Derry around an hour later.

Shortly after the incident, a man in his 30s was arrested in another car, a Silver Nissan Almera registration number CZJ 2195.

He is being held at Buncrana garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
