Brian Cowen's brother: Locals want Taoiseach to run again
Barry Cowen has not ruled out running in the Laois/Offaly constituency if his brother Brian decides not to contest the upcoming Election.
Speculation is growing about the political future of the Taoiseach.
Many believe that Mr Cowen is set to announce his retirement from political life and that his brother Barry, the current chairman of Offaly County Council, will stand in his place.
Speaking to Midlands 103 at a local Fianna Fáil meeting in Tullamore last night, Barry Cowen said the people of the area want to see his Brian Cowen continue as their representative.
"The feeling coming out of this room tonight is one seeking and asking that he consider running and represent the people as he has done, so magnificnetly I might add, for Fianna Fáil and for the electorate and for the constituency of Laois/Offaly," he said.
