Security alert cuts off Belfast road

One of the main routes into Belfast remains closed this morning as a security alert continues in the north of the city.

Police have carried out a number of controlled explosions on a suspicious object on the Antrim road.

Up to 100 families have been moved out of their homes around Glandore Avenue.

SDLP Councillor Cathal Mullaghan said there seemed to be a pattern to the attacks.

"This time last year we had something in this vicinity as well…Whoever's doing this in this area, please stop it," he said.
