Gardaí are appealing for help in identifying three men killed in a car crash in Co Tipperary on Friday night.

Gardaí are appealing for help in identifying three men killed in a car crash in Co Tipperary on Friday night.

The crash happened outside Cashel shortly before 11pm on Friday.

Friday night's collision between a lorry and a car occurred on the main N8 from Cashel to Dublin, northbound.

The level of impact was so severe that a crane had to be used by emergency services to remove the truck from on top of the car.

The driver of the lorry was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with minor injuries.

All three men in the car - the driver, a front- and a rear-seat passenger were killed.

Gardaí are continuing their efforts to establish the identity of the men, described as aged in their 20s, of slim to medium build and dark-haired.

The car they were travelling in was a blue four-door Volkswagen Passat, registration 99 D 89487.
