Clerical abuse victims group meets Vatican delegation in Newry

A victims group from the North has met with a Vatican delegation set up to look into abuse within the Catholic Church.

The Senior Bishops met the Survivors and Victims of Institutional Abuse group in Newry this afternoon.

The Apostolic Visitation was led by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, the retired archbishop of Westminster.

One survivor, John Meehan, welcomed the Cardinal's commitment to delegate someone to remain in contact with his group.
