Group urges voters to prioritise equality in next election
Ireland cannot afford cutbacks in equality and rights and needs to prioritise investment in promoting equality.
The Equality and Rights Alliance is today launching its campaign ahead of the general election.
The group said Ireland cannot afford to further marginalise the most vulnerable people in society who have borne the brunt of tough budgets in recent years.
Spokesperson Rachel Mullins is urging voters to think carefully ahead of polling day as they have a duty to vote in people who will protect the weakest in society.
The group, which was set up in 2008, is made up of 155 organisations opposed to any Government cuts in the area of equality and human rights.
