Danish transport firm to shed 60 jobs in Dublin

Around 60 jobs are to go in Dublin at the end of the month.

Danish transport company DFDS has announced it is to terminate its ferry services to and from Dublin Port.

SIPTU is to meet with company management to discuss the details of a redundancy package for its members.

The union said over-capacity in the business and the over-issuing of licences to shipping companies is to blame.

SIPTU Official Ken Fleming said the industry needs to be regulated.
