A man who was stabbed in Co Louth yesterday has lost his fight for life in hospital.

A man who was stabbed in Co Louth yesterday has lost his fight for life in hospital.

The 32-year-old was stabbed at an apartment in Drogheda at around 2pm yesterday afternoon.

He was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and was later transferred to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin where he died in the early hours of this morning.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman who was also stabbed is still being treated in hospital in Drogheda, her injuries are not life threatening.

The two victims are originally from Pakistan but have been living in Ireland for some time.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in Drogheda late last night in connection with the incident.

He is being detained under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
