Met Eireann predicts improvement in road conditions

Met Eireann has said dry, cold weather over the coming days will help to improve road conditions for people driving home for Christmas.

Sean O'Neill from NRA said road conditions should be better over the coming days.

A shipment of salt arrived in the country last night which was distributed nationwide by 130 trucks which queued up at Dublin Port to transport it across the country.

There has been increased demand on rail and bus services because of the poor weather.

Travellers who have experienced flight cancellations during the recent cold spell may be entitled to refunds.

The European Consumer Centre in Dublin said that under EU legislation, travellers have legal redress where a flight is cancelled or delayed for a long period of time.
