Bodies of man and woman found in Grand Canal

The bodies of a man and a woman were found in the Grand Canal in Dublin shortly before midday today, gardaí said.

The grim discovery was made at Suir Road, Inchicore, by a member of the public.

Both are believed to be in their late 20's.

The scene is preserved at present and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist have been requested.

Post mortems are scheduled to take place tomorrow at City Morgue, Marino.

No information was given as to the possible cause of death or how long the bodies had been in the canal.
