Ian Bailey’s legal team has described the attempt by the French authorities to extradite him to France as an insult to the Irish State in what’s understood to be the first case of its type in Europe.

The Cork-based Briton is wanted in France in connection with the death of French film-maker Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Cork 14 years ago.
