Cowen defends €5bn charge on EU loan to Ireland

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has again defended the interest rates being charged on a third of the IMF/EU bailout for Ireland.

It has emerged the EU's €22.5bn contribution to the bailout will charge a margin of almost 3% to Ireland.
