Carers protest 4% cut in their allowance

Family carers have staged a protest outside the Dáil today over the 4 % cut in their allowance.

The Health Minister Mary Harney has said she can understand why carers are upset over cuts announced in the Budget.

Minister Harney said she accepts it is difficult to deal with, but it was not possible to make €6bn in cuts, without making adjustments to the social welfare budget.
