Group protests cut to minimum wage

A protest is being held outside the Dáil in opposition to the €1 cut in the minimum wage being voted on today.

TDs will vote at lunchtime on legislation to reduce the Minimum Wage from €8.65 to €7.65 an hour.

The Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill will also cut the salaries of the Taoiseach and Government ministers.

Siobhán O'Donoghue from the group, Claiming our Future, says the wage cut will hurt the poorest workers in the country.
