Frontline launches campaign to protect defenders of human rights

A new campaign is being launched today for the protection of human rights defenders who are at risk.

Ten leading Irish public figures - including Andrea Corr, the Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly and TD Michael D Higgins - are taking part in the 'Protect One, Empower a Thousand' campaign which has been organised by human rights organisation Frontline.

It is being held today to coincide with the anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and International Human Rights Day, which is tomorrow.
