Eircom crews continue repair work
Field technicians in Wexford, Carlow and Wicklow are almost completely grounded today due to road conditions, eircom said today.
There are currently over 4,000 reported faults, with more than 1,400 faults reported yesterday alone. Both broadband and telephone services have been impacted.
Some 600 eircom crews are working nationwide to reach customers without service.
Yesterday more than 1,500 customers had service restored. Since Monday that total is now more than 5,000 faults repaired.
The areas with the highest fault levels are north Dublin city and county, Dublin city centre, south county Dublin, as well as counties Wicklow, Carlow, Wexford, Laois and Meath
Travel conditions remain very difficult all over the country but especially in rural and upland areas on the east coast. Field technicians in Wexford, Carlow and Wicklow are almost completely grounded today due to road conditions.
There are a number of areas inaccessible to our technicians including parts of Meath, Kildare, Wicklow Wexford, Carlow and Waterford as well as the areas previously identified: Brittas, Aughrim, Roundwood, Glendalough, Newtownmountkennedy, Blessington, Rathdrum.
All available technicians have been diverted onto fault repairs and crews will continue to carry out repair work throughout the weekend.
With forecasters predicting further snow and icy conditions throughout the weekend we do ask customers to be patient as we work to repair all faults as quickly as possible.
Customers are also strongly urged, where possible, to log faults on the “Log a Fault” section of www.eircom.ie or through our automated customer service line 1901.
