Rescued Wexford woman gives birth to triplets

A Co Wexford woman has given birth to three little boys after being rescued from her snowbound rural home in Co Wexford.

Mandy Hayden Freeman's husband phoned an ambulance in a panic early yesterday morning at their house on the lower slopes of Mount Leinster after the woman went into labour two weeks early.

Plans to send a helicopter had to be scrapped because of heavy snow but an off-road vehicle made it to the house at Ballindaggin and was able to transfer Mrs Freeman into an ambulance and bring her to Wexford General Hospital.

Triplets Aaron, Ryan and Finn were both by Caeseran section and are doing well.
