Sinn Féin's Martin Ferris has rejected the excuses offered by the Taoiseach Brian Cowen for reducing the minimum wage as "a red herring".

The Taoiseach defended the Government's decision to cut the National Minimum wage by €1 per hour, but admitted the cut would not save the Exchequer any money.
