Dublin Airport reopens after snow shuts down runway

Dublin Airport was forced to close its main runway for a time overnight to allow for snow and ice clearance.

It has now re-opened but delays are expected throughout the day.

Ministers for Transport, Environment and Defence are to be brought up to date later this morning on the national response so far to the bad weather.

Heavy snow fell again last night making road conditions treacherous in most parts, particularly in Leinster.

Dublin Bus is operating but there are significant curtailments and diversions on a large number of their routes.
