Donegal council uses gritting machines to keep way clear for voters

Gritting is underway outside polling stations in the Donegal South West by-election after a hard frost in the area overnight.

Voting is underway to fill the seat vacated 18 months ago with the election of Pat "The Cope" Gallagher to the European Parliament.

More than 62,000 people have the right to cast their ballot in 136 polling stations which will remain open until 10pm
