Ireland's MEPs to meet Olli Rehn

Ireland's MEPS will today meet the European Economics Commissioner Olli Rehn in Strasbourg.

It comes as the Irish crisis and the EU and IMF bailout package continue to dominate debate in the European Parliament.

MEP for the East, Mairead McGuinness said the talks with Commissioner Rehn will cover issues such as economic governance in the Eurozone.

And she says the current political instability in Ireland makes today's meeting all the more crucial.

"These are very serious times for Ireland and for the Eurozone," she said, necessitating "this unprecedented meeting with the Commissioner".
