Barroso: Ireland making 'enormous' efforts

The European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso, has said Ireland is making enormous efforts to combat the financial crisis.

He also said he is confident next month's budget and the four-year austerity plan will prove that the 2014 target for correcting the excessive deficit is "firm and credible".
