Higgins confident of regaining Dáil seat

Socialist MEP Joe Higgins has said he has a "very strong possibility" of regaining his Dáil seat if a General Election is called in the next few months.

The Dublin MEP lost his place in the Dáil in the election of 2007 but won a seat in the European Parliament last year.

Speaking ahead of the Socialist Party's annual conference in Cavan this weekend, Mr Higgins said it is no secret that he wants to get back to national politics.
