Gardaí seize guns found by passer-by

Eight guns were seized today after a member of the public spotted the weapons on open ground.

Gardaí from Kildare, supported by officers from the Special Detective Unit at Harcourt Square, recovered the six shotguns and two rifles near Straffan, Co Kildare.

They have been taken to the Garda Technical Bureau for forensic technical examination.

A garda spokesman said a search of the area is ongoing and is expected to continue tomorrow.
