ESRI proposes property tax based on home value

Struggling homeowners could face paying a further €80 a month property tax, under a new proposal by the ESRI.

The country's top economic institute is proposing a tax based on the value of homes, but middle-income earners would be worst hit, as those on social welfare and anyone who paid stamp duty recently would be exempt.
