IHRC to publish Magdalene Laundries report today

The Irish Human Rights Commission will today publish its assessment of human rights issues brought about by Magdalene Laundries in Ireland.

Women who were forced to spend time at Magdalene Laundries were not included in the compensation offered by the State under the Ryan report.

Magdalene Laundries were notoriously harsh industrial centres run by Irish nuns and endorsed by the state up until the early 1990s.
