Woman dies in Roscommon road accident

A woman has died in a road accident in County Roscommon.

The accident happened on the old N6 between Athlone and Ballinasloe at Ballydangan.

The pedestrian, in her mid 50's, was struck by a car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been taken to Portiuncula hospital.

The road is closed for forensic examination and is not expected to re-open until tomorrow.
