Independent Colleges COO secures injunction against redundancy
The High Court has granted the Chief Operating Officer of Independent Colleges an injunction preventing his employers from terminating his employment on foot of a letter he received in October. The injunction is to remain in place pending the outcome of a full court action.
Philip Burke, also a law lecturer and a shareholder of Independent Colleges, claimed he was informed last month he was to be made redundant from his position as COO because of the current difficult economic situation. Mr Burke was subsequently informed in a letter of October 11th he would be made redundant on October 25.
