EU markets commissioner to discuss market-stimulus plan

Europe's plans to re-invigorate the single market will be discussed today when the EU's internal markets commissioner visits Ireland.

Europe's plans to re-invigorate the single market will be discussed today when the EU's internal markets commissioner visits Ireland.

Commissioner Michel Barnier will meet members of IBEC and will also face questioning by the Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs.

The Commissioner could be grilled on EU moves towards creating a common consolidated corporation tax base.

Committee Chairman and Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan said the Commissioner would also outline plans to promote a more competitive social market economy.
