Man killed as car crashes into ditch

One man was killed and a second injured when a car crashed in to a ditch, gardaí said today.

The accident happened on the N62 at Grange, Thurles, Co Tipperary, around 11.20pm last night.

Investigators said a 20-year-old man died at the scene.

“A second occupant, a male aged in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Limerick Hospital,” said a garda spokesman. “His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.”

Motorists were warned the road remained closed for a technical examination and diversions were in place.

Gardaí in Thurles are appealing for witnesses.
