No jail for teen caught with €74,000 worth of heroin

A “diligent student” who was caught with €74,000 worth of heroin when he was sixteen has been given a suspended sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The now 17-year-old was spotted by gardaí near his home in west Dublin dropping a bag containing around €10,000 in heroin on the ground. A later search of his home revealed the rest of the consignment in his bedroom locker.
