Electricity plant to create 265 jobs

A total of 265 new jobs will be created at new power plant Co Offaly, it was announced today.

Some 200 will be employed during the construction phase and 65 staff will work in the plant when it is up and running.

Construction of the plant for Biotricity will begin early next year.

"The plant will generate 15 megawatts of renewable electricity," said Biotricity's managing director Declan Kennedy.

"That's enough to power around 5,000 houses."
