Woman killed in Cork crash

A 20-year-old woman was killed and the driver of their car injured in an overnight crash.

A 20-year-old woman was killed and the driver of their car injured in an overnight crash.

The victim was a front seat passenger in the vehicle which went out of control at Bishopstown in Cork shortly after midnight.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, at Ballinveltig on the Curraheen Road, and her body was removed to Cork University Hospital.

The male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Gardaí warned the scene remained closed from the roundabout at the Cork Greyhound Track towards Maglin, Ballincollig, until full forensic and technical examinations of the scene are completed.

Elsewhere a man in his 80s died after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle in on the R245 near Milford in Co Donegal yesterday afternoon.

The driver of the second car was not injured.
